Soroptimists of Chehalem Valley recently hosted a fundraiser, Soup’s On, in which attendees voted on their favorite soups from among 12 entries. Both top winners were double winners. Field and Stream Bistro in Dundee, OR offered a Creamy Chicken Soup and was awarded the Ladles for People’s Choice and Martin Bleck’s SouperBOWL award. Home chef, Om Sukheenai, of Chehalem Insurance was awarded double wins as well, for her Pork Boat Soup as the Judges Choice and runner up as People’s Choice. Home chef Debby Liew received recognition for her Asparagus Soup.
Other restaurants providing soups include Subterra, Trellis, & Forage Meanwhile, attendees heard from keynote speaker, Dr. Susan Inman, on becoming aware of the dangers of human sex trafficking and how awareness can keep children and young adults safe. Attendees raised their paddles during a gift basket auction that funds local scholarships for women and young women graduating from high school. A new scholarship opportunity was presented, The Martin Bleck Culinary Scholarship for high school senior girls. More than $10,000 was raised to support future scholarships. |
